Yay!! I feel so incredibly humbled to have been nominated for the Liebster Award!
I got my first award!!! I want to extend an enormous thank you to Ashley from Rockin' in Resource Room for nominating me for the Liebster Award! Basically, this award is given to newbie bloggers who have less than 200 followers. It is an awesome way of showing appreciation while also spreading the word about your blog! Here are the rules!! You must post 11 random things about yourself, answer a set a questions from your nominator, and create 11 questions for the people you nominate.

4. My family goes to Hilton Head, South Carolina every summer! I cannot wait to go this June right after school lets out!
5. I went to a small Lutheran grade school from preschool through 8th grade, and then I continued in a close knit setting at a Lutheran high school before I attended the University of Michigan.
6. My favorite color is purple!
7. I am a huge romantic, and I whole heartedly believe that there is a soulmate out there waiting for every person.
8. I love scrap booking.... I made myself 4 scrapbooks for my high school graduation party.
9. I have a dog, a Brittany Spaniel, and his name is Bentley, but I prefer to call him Benjamin.
10. I was in a sorority in college, and I am an avid believer that we all need our sisters. Love me some Alpha Gamma Delta
11. I wanted to be a pediatric dentist before I wanted to go into teaching, and to be completely honest..... I have no idea how teaching became an area of interest in my future, but God opened my eyes to this passion in my life, and I am so thankful to have found what I feel as a calling at such a young age! I am truly blessed.
12. And yes, I am going to add one more because it the most important to me. I am in love with my Lord, and I am amazed by how He works in my life every day.

 Now onto the questions!
 1. Who/ what inspired you to become a teacher?
Well, like I mentioned above, I actually wanted to be a pediatric dentist before I went to college. But, I do remember having amazing teachers. I had one English teacher, Mr. Brandt, who challenged, joked, cared, and inspired me to be something more, to reach my potential. But when it comes to who led me to becoming a teacher, I truly feel my Lord showed me my way before I went away to school. He opened doors, and he opened my heart to a passion that I so excited to be a part of. I absolutely love my job, and I also love sharing my love of teaching with this blogging community.
2. What is your favorite vacation spot?
I absolutely love Hilton Head, South Carolina. My family owns a timeshare on the island, and we go every summer. It is the most relaxing place that I have ever been to.... and I have been to some pretty sweet places (Maui, Kauai, Caribbean, Mexico, Bahamas)
3. What do you love to do outside of teaching?
Outside of teaching, I love spending time with my family, and my boyfriend. I am extremely close with my family. I have two older brothers, and we all like to gather on Sundays for a family meal. It may sound old fashioned, but I love it, and it keeps us coming together consistently! Unfortunately, my oldest brother, Jeffrey has been in Chicago away from us in medical school for the past four years, but he just got his surgery residency placement in Michigan, so hopefully he will be joining us again very soon! And of course, my love, Joshua! I spend a majority of my time with Josh, and he is finishing up pharmacy school at the University of Michigan and will be done in just one more year! Yay!!!
4. Do you have any pets? If so what kind?
Yes! I have one dog, a Brittany Spaniel. And he is the cutest little thing. He is a hunting dog, but he is actually quite timid. For some reason, I started calling him Benjamin as a puppy, and it stuck for me.
5. What is your all time favorite movie?
Now this is for sure going to sound weird. but my all time favorite movie is Taken! I absolutely love thrillers, and there is something about a dad trying to save his daughter that is so exciting yet scary to me!
6. What advice would you give a new teacher?
Well, hey, I am still new to teaching. But, my biggest piece of advice to new teachers would be to love what you do. Teaching is a very stressful, exciting, and busy job. And if you don't love what you do, it is going to show. I cannot imagine going to work every day without absolutely loving the idea of teaching and inspiring my kiddos! And another small piece of advice is to stay organized right off the bat. Follow blogs, look on Pinterest, and find ways to organize papers, your classroom, and really anything so that you do become overwhelmed with organization mid year! Being organized really saves me time throughout the year because I know where everything is and where everything goes!
7. What is your favorite quick " go to" meal on a busy workday?
Well, there are a few places that Josh and I go to when we don't feel like cooking during the week! But, my "go to"  is random but satisfying, and it is a toasted everything bagel from Tim Hortons with cream cheese and iced cappuccino! Ahh... yum!
8. What is your favorite children's book? Why?
Like every teacher, this is such a hard question to decide on! But I think right now I would pick Chrysanthemum. I love the message it teaches, and I am absolutely in love with the illustrations, so cute!
9. If you weren't a teacher, what other career do you think you would have?
Well, I did always want to be a dentist... but nah I don't think that suits me well anymore. If I weren't a teacher, I think I would be a nurse. I really love helping people, and I can totally see myself working with the newborns in a hospital.
10. What is your favorite quote?
I am such a teacher. My favorite quote is by Dr. Seuss, and it goes like this, "Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."
11. How do you plan on spending your summer this year?
Well, my summer is going to be shortened this year because my school is transitioning to a balanced calendar, but I will be going on vacation with my family, spending time up north with my family, babysitting my favorite cuties during the day, and organizing and crafting for my classroom at night! I can't wait!!!
